A local crew with a soft spot for good soil
Just Weeds started with one person, a set of hand tools and a firm belief that a garden does not need to be doused in chemicals to be brought back under control.
From one wheelbarrow to a trusted local name
Just Weeds began in a backyard in the Blue Mountains, when our founder got tired of watching good gardens get sprayed into submission. The approach was simple: get on your hands and knees, find the crown of the weed, and work it out root and all.
Word travelled the way it does in a small town. One neighbour told another, and before long weekends were booked out clearing ivy, blackberry and everything in between.
Today we are a small, close-knit team with the same philosophy we started with. We are still local, we still pull by hand, and we still take the green waste with us when we leave.

Sam Whitfield
Founder & Lead Grower
Sam started Just Weeds with a wheelbarrow and a stubborn streak. Twenty years later, he still prefers a hand fork to a spray pack.

Dan has an eye for the tricky jobs — steep blocks, rocky beds and the invasive weeds that refuse to budge.

Why we pick and pull
A weed is simply a plant in the wrong place, and the way you remove it decides whether it comes back.
- It protects your good plants. Careful hand work means we can tell a prized seedling from a nuisance and work around it.
- It keeps your soil alive. Spraying and scraping damage the soil biology that your garden depends on. Pulling leaves it intact.
- It gets the root. Most weeds return because the root stays behind. We follow the stem down and take the whole thing out.
- It is safe around kids and pets. No lingering residue, no withholding periods, no worries.
